Hi all,
Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts. On August 8, 2001 at 11:32 A.M.
Bryndan Aliese Arledge entered our lives and this world. She was 6 pounds 1
ounce and 19 1/2 inches long.
Keri started having contractions at 4:00 A.M. She started timing them
and woke me up at 6:30 A.M. They were still about 8 minutes apart. We
called and then went to the Hospital at approximately 7:45. They checked us
in and set her up to be monitored. They started monitoring her contractions
and the baby's heartrate at 8:30 A.M. She was still having light
contractions when her water broke at 8:55. They moved us into the birthing
room at around 9:30. They got her all hooked up and then started to give her
Pitocin. Her contractions were still pretty light and about 3 1/2 minutes
apart. At 10:25 she was 80 % effaced and only 1 centimeter. Then the
contractions started to get more intense at around 10:45 A.M. Keri was
having a little pain, but they don't give epidurals before 3-4 centimeters.
They gave her a shot of some pain medications, but no epidural. Keri was in
quite a bit of pain and at 11:10 the nurse came in again and once again told
us no epidural. We asked if they could check her and they agreed. The
nurses eyes got really large when she realized that Keri had dilated from a 1
to a 10 in 45 minutes. The nurses called the Doctor and got everything set
up. They told Keri not to PUSH and she did a great job. Ten minutes later
we had a new baby girl.
Thanks everyone and can't wait for everyone to meet the newest addition
to our family. You can visit her at the Hospital's website. Click here: Oklahoma City Gynecology
